Elishwa Accompaniment: A Sacred Journey with Expectant Mothers
Inspired by the Gospel moment when Mother Mary lovingly hastened to support her cousin Elizabeth during her time of pregnancy, the Congregation of the Holy Family (CHF) has launched a heartfelt initiative known as Elishwa Accompaniment. This special mission is dedicated to walking alongside pregnant women throughout the sacred nine months of their prenatal journey.
With the support of the Archdiocese of Thrissur and pro-life organization, this program seeks to nurture and form the unborn child holistically—from the womb itself—spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. Recognizing the physical and emotional strains expectant mothers may face, CHF sisters Specially Navajyothi Province, Thrissur offer personal accompaniment as spiritual mentors and compassionate guides.
Key highlights of the program include:
- Every first Wednesday: A gathering of animators for planning, reflection, and spiritual enrichment
- Every second Sunday: One-hour enrichment sessions for pregnant women, covering relevant topics such as mental wellness, prayer, nutrition, and the sanctity of life
- One-to-one accompaniment: Each CHF Sister adopts and journeys closely with a pregnant mother, offering prayers, guidance, Counselling and continuous emotional support
- A dedicated team of 22 animators currently serve as leaders and mentors in this program
Elishwa Accompaniment is more than a program—it is a gesture of sacred presence, echoing St. Mariam Thresia’s own legacy of empathy and care for families. Through this ministry, the CHF Sisters plant seeds of grace and love, nurturing new life and strengthening mothers who carry it.
Every three months, a special gathering is held at the Archdiocese of Thrissur, where bishops, priests, animators, pro-life members and participants come together for fellowship and spiritual enrichment. During this time, inspirational classes and sessions are organized, giving participants a valuable opportunity to connect with one another, share experiences, and grow in faith
