Sneharam – A Psycho social Rehabilitation Centre for Mentally Sick Women
Sneharam – A Sanctuary of Healing and Harmony founded in 2014 as a centenary tribute to the Congregation of the Holy Family, reflects the compassionate legacy of St. Mariam Thresia. Her unwavering dedication to the poor and marginalized continues to radiate through this sacred space, offering light, care, and hope to women journeying through the shadows of mental illness and abandonment.
Responding to one of the most silent and stigmatized needs of our time; Sneharam was established as a psycho-social rehabilitation centre for mentally ill and abandoned women, especially those displaced from their families due to poverty or circumstances that endangered the safety of others in the household. It offers not just shelter, but dignity – a place where every woman is seen, known, and cared for with reverence.
Today, Sneharam is home to 20 women from diverse castes and cultural backgrounds stay freely. They live together in an environment grounded in respect and shared humanity. The centre fosters recovery and empowerment through a range of supportive amenities including a physical fitness room, a medical care unit, and dedicated routines that encourage personal discipline and community life.
A Home Rooted in Love
Sneharam is more than an asylum—it is a sanctuary of emotional and spiritual refuge for women who have been separated from their families due to the challenges of mental illness. Guided by the values of dignity, inclusiveness, and compassion, the centre warmly embraces women from diverse cultural and social backgrounds, nurturing a path toward inner peace and harmony within themselves and their families.
Holistic Care and Compassionate Healing
Residents at Sneharam benefit from a wide range of facilities, including a physical fitness room to support bodily well-being and a dedicated medical care unit for ongoing treatment. Daily routines, manual exercises, and structured therapeutic activities help foster stability and self-worth in each individual.
Professional doctors and caregivers generously volunteer their time and skills, making Sneharam not just a haven of healing—but a beacon of charity in action.
Healthcare professionals, moved by the centre’s mission, extend their services freely – an act of grace that reinforces Sneharam’s identity as a purely charitable institution. Manual exercises and structured daily activities provide rhythm and meaning, helping residents to rediscover purpose in their days.
Living the Legacy of St. Mariam Thresia
As a living memorial to the vision of its foundress, Sneharam continues to stand as a testament to faith, resilience, and hope. It reminds us that even in silence and suffering, love has the power to heal, restore, and uplift.
At its heart, Sneharam is more than a rehabilitation centre. It is a quiet, persistent testament to what love can accomplish when it chooses to walk alongside the most vulnerable. A sanctuary where faith touches suffering and healing becomes an act of communion.
